A few photographs I took while in the various aircraft I flew in.
The only craft I didn't shoot from was the Embraer 120 prop plane we took from Ontario to LAX - but we were only up in the air for a few minutes.

On the ascent from Seattle. At this point, we were between two cloud layers, with a small fragment of sky visible between the two layers.

Finally, over the clouds. At this point, I think we were over Portland or thereabouts.

|
Mountains in northern California, I think.

I'm not sure where this is, but the way that river spills out into the ocean fascinates me so. Would appreciate it if anyone can identify that river.

Still approaching the bay. It was after these shots that I had to turn off my camera. Mental note: film cameras are still good for stuff like this, as oftentimes, they're not electronic devices.

Now I'm aboard a Canadair Regional Jet 200. As near as I can tell, this is Monterey Bay, California out the window. Just south of here is the Big Sur range.
|
|
Coming over the Grapevine. This particular city below us is, as near as I can tell, Lancaster. Shortly after this, I again had to turn off my camera - so I regretfully did not get any aerial shots of the Mormon Rocks, which is a distinctive sandstone formation in the Cajon Pass that also demarcates the San Andreas fault through the area.

Return flight from LAX, en route to SEA. At this point, I'm on an Airbus 320.
These here are some shots of the northern channel islands along California's southern coast. Visibile from the second shot on down are Anacapa and Santa Cruz islands (the small one and large one respectively), and in the fourth shot here, you can make out Santa Rosa just behind there. In the first shot, we can see Santa Catalina from the north, and beyond that is San Clemente Island. |
