Despite all the evil spoken of Los Angeles, much of it is quite beautiful. The city has a rich history and its own culture that can't really be compared to any other city.

Even so, I wouldn't return to it. Frankly, the Seattle area has become my home, and I don't think I'd be willing to give it up.

I only got to spend a few hours in the city while I changed trains to visit my grandparents the day after Christmas and overnight thereunto, but managed to squeeze off a few shots here and there. So here they are.

Sears building

This is one of the oldest Sears stores in the nation, and one of the few remaining stand-alone stores that Sears actually operates.

Waiting area inside LA Union Station

Beyond the waiting area is the ticketing area for Amtrak (to the right), Metrolink (to the left just as you cross through the arch), the entry point for the Metro Red and Purple Lines (the subways through Los Angeles), and continuing straight back, the tunnel that gets to the trains. Beyond said tunnel is the bus plaza for LA County Metro Transit.

Old ticketing area from when Union Pacific ran passenger rail operated through this station

This room is now used for banquets and such.

Well, OK, it's still one day after Christmas!

Courtyard

One perfect rose

Clock tower on the station, shot from inside the courtyard

Seems appropriate, this - a shot of the state flag with some palm trees in the background. Something a bit iconic of Los Angeles.
